Rebirth Garments is a clothing line for the full spectrum of gender, size, and ability, handmade by Sky Cubacub in Chicago, IL.
This is not your typical catwalk fashion show! Sky Cubacub creates a more friendly safer space in which people dance to show off their completely custom made garments and the audience can choose to immerse themselves as well.
Clothes will be modeled by more than 15 local Bay Area disability activists, queer activists and fat activists!
After the modeling portion, there will be a talk by Sky Cubacub on their manifesto "Radical Visibility: A QueerCrip Dress Reform Movement", and it will be open for questions! If there are any questions you would like Sky to address specifically (but you know you may feel too nervous day of) feel free to email them at firstname.lastname@example.org
This event is donation based, with no one turned away for lack of funds (I mean it, no one!) If you would like a free ticket, please use the promo code "free" when registering.
Please refrain from using scented products so that all community members may attend
(for a partial list of unscented products, please visit http://eastbaymeditation.org/accessibility/scentfree.html)
There will be no flashing lights
Shop for clothing and accessories and see past performances at: www.rebirthgarments.com
There will be some sheer/revealing clothing which shows off parts of the body, but the content is family friendly and all ages are welcome. People under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (theater rules).
If there are additional access needs that audience members would like to request, let us know and we can see what we can do!
